4/24/2020

Heat Level: Hot: These tips are meant for marketing experts.

Bottom Line: To help businesses recover from the shutdown, Google is giving businesses credit in their Google Ads accounts.

Do This: Keep an eye on your account to see if you qualify. If you do, make sure you don't let that free money go to waste.

google free ad credit for small and medium businessesHave you seen a slump in business since the shutdown happened? You’re not alone.

With millions of Americans sheltering at home, there’s one place everyone is going: the Internet. While it may be tempting to pull back on your ad spend, there are more eyeballs than ever to see your digital ads.

Now, are you sitting down? Google Ads is giving out a whopping $340 million in ad credits to help businesses stay visible online.

This news is exciting for businesses that have been struggling to stay afloat during the pandemic. Needless to say, this is a win-win for both businesses and Google Ads.

These credits are being applied to businesses worldwide and are expected to be delivered in the coming months. So which businesses will be eligible for these credits?

Does Your Business Qualify for Free Google Ads Credits?

Ad credits will be given to small and medium-sized businesses that have had active accounts since the beginning of January 2019 and advertise directly with Google or through partners. Eligible businesses must also comply with all Google Ads’ terms and conditions.

When Will You Receive these Credits?

Unfortunately, you shouldn’t expect to see these credits applied overnight. The timeline is also pretty vague. Advertisers can expect to see credits within the “coming months,” according to Google. The tech company said it is still ironing out the details and is in the process of building and allocating credits to accounts.

If you qualify, you will receive notifications about these credits within your Google Ads account. So now more than ever, it pays to keep an active eye on your accounts.

How Long Can Credits Be Used?

Advertisers have the remainder of 2020 to use their credits. The expiration date is December 31, 2020. After that date, unused credits will be removed from the account by Google. So make sure to use them wisely!

How Can You Use Your Credits?

You can use your ad credits on all channels including Search, Youtube, Display and all other campaign types. This gives you the opportunity to keep up your advertising efforts on channels you’ve found to be successful or experiment with different campaigns.

Bottom Line

These are challenging times for all businesses, but all hope is not lost. Be diligent about your advertising efforts and stay ahead of the game. And keep your eye out for opportunities (like free ad credit, or reduced ad packages) to keep your marketing humming along.
